Skechers presents the 17th annual Sharmila Dance Extravaganza featuring an entertaining array of Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Classical Ballet, Street-Jazz, Afro-Jazz, Dancehall, Bboying and Latin at Centrepoint Theatre, DUCTAC, Mall of The Emirates, April 21st and 22nd, show times 2:30pm and 7:30pm.
It will be head-spinning weekends for dance in Dubai, where the local powerhouse of talent will make audience members want to jump out of their seats. Spectators will be in for a treat with new and unique choreographies set to a fun mix of the hottest hits, old school classics and eclectic tracks that will appeal to all tastes.
Renowned choreographer, Sharmila Kamte kicks off the show with a colourful Hip Hop number, inspired by the magic of Hollywood dance films such as Step Up, Footloose, Stomp the Yard. One of the many tantalising performances the audience can look forward to is Underground, a contemporary piece where dancers fall into motion listening to a live performer in a metro station. To close the Extravaganza will be a futuristic piece of art transporting us to the future.
“Every year is a chance to impress new and returning audience members with breathtaking choreography and dances that will leave a lasting impression and a higher regard for the world of dance. I am proud to see the sweat and hard work that goes on behind the scenes in preparation for the show to turn into magic on stage,” said Sharmila Kamte, Founder, Choreographer and Artistic Director of Sharmila Dance.
The Sharmila Dance Extravaganza is a professional showcase of the commitment, passion and talent of the Sharmila Dance school’s students and company of professional dancers. Dedicated to sharing the vitality and delight of dance as a form of art and sport, Sharmila Dance offers a range of classes and workshops throughout the year for students of all ages and levels.
The Sharmila Dance Extravaganza originally started off as a small street jazz dance show in the Jumeirah Beach Club in 2000 and has since grown and transformed into one of Dubai’s most sought after dance shows. To meet demands of its growing audience, the Extravaganza moved to Centrepoint Theatre, DUCTAC, Mall of The Emirates in 2007 where it reached new heights with consistently sold out shows and standing ovations over the years.
